Whether you’re meandering around your beach community or looking for a stylish neighborhood ride, the Nirve Retro Kitty women’s single-speed 26-inch cruiser bike is an excellent choice. The Retro Kitty is equipped with such features as a proprietary Galaxie frame, 26-inch whitewall tires with Hello Kitty treads, and full-length fenders. The double-spring Hello Kitty saddle and cruiser-style handlebars, meanwhile, are designed for all-day comfort. Perhaps the sweetest feature, however, is the bike’s two-tone pink retro/white color and shape, which call to mind the classic ladies’ bikes of the ’50s and ’60s. My husband bought me this bike for my birthday and it is probably the coolest gift he's ever given me. Everything about this bike is perfect from the hello kitty tire tread to the embroidered seat. The bike is even cuter in person. As far as putting it together goes, my husband and son did that part and only had a little trouble when it came to figuring out the hand brake(which they eventaully did of course). One of the best things about this bike is that nobody in my neighborhood has it. You wouldn't believe the envious stares and the compliments I've recieved. I also got the nirve wicker basket for my bike and it really took its cuteness to the next level. I've been on this bicycle every day since my birthday and I love it! -- The cutest bike ever!
I agree with above posters. I got the orange-blue HK cruiser, and every day I am grateful for the lack of gears. I watch people fly by me on the bike path. But they are working one-tenth as hard as I am on only mildly uneven terrain...you would not BELIEVE the transformation in my glutes, thighs, and hams, even calves, in just six short weeks. I had some initial back pain, then found the seat tilted forward, I need it perfectly level and I finally adjusted it. This bike does NOT blow over on the wind, is made of steel, and is very very difficult to steal (I work at a University where tons of bikes get stolen off the gazillions of racks)because none of the components come off. I LOVE this bike, it was nearly 400 bucks, but worth every dime. No joke. And the whimsical HK logo (remember, I opted for orange/blue) makes people smile and keeps me happy, too. Excellent quality and a fabulous way to get or stay in shape. Expect hard thigh work on even mildly uneven terrain. Worth every penny. I commute to work and am about to turn in my 600 dollar a year parking permit. I am so happy with this bike. -- Best value for the money, super sturdy and adorable
Bought this for my wife's birthday. She loves it. Looks great. Wasn't easy to assemble. Putting the brakes together was a pain. They include a metal sheet with notches cut out to use for the bolts. Throw it away. Use your own sockets. The bike is ridden about 3 times a month so after 9 months I can't report any mechanical issues. The tire's tread is shaped into a Hello Kitty face, good attention to detail there. Other than the price being about 3 times more than a WalMart brand bike, this makes a great gift for the wife. -- Great gift for the little girl in her
This bike is exactly what I wanted. I had to put it together but had not a problem doing it. I did have a issue with the seat not staying tight. But if you go to Nirve bike site they have a short video to show you how to do the assembly... happy riding and everyone will die of jealous.. in a good way===:) -- hello kitty nirve bike
The title of these review comes straight from the packaging of this product and I must say it is "Super Cute!" So, I had been eyeing up this bike forever. No one ever had it locally and Amazon was out of stock for a while on it. The when they had it back in stock you had to pay for shipping. I held out more and at the time of this review there was free shipping like they had offered in the past. So when UPS delivered it, it comes in this huge heavy hello kitty decked out box unassembled. I had tried to assemble it, but gave up after a half hour of getting no where with it. So I had to go to bike shop pay 40 bucks and have them assemble it. Then, because it is HUGE they couldn't stick it in the back of my jetta with the two back seats down. The guy had to remove the front wheel to squeeze it in. It wasn't hard getting the wheel back on at home, but if you ever wanted to take it with you, you would definitely need a bike rack.
So far the review sounds burdensome and not worth it, however once I had the bike assembled I must say that I am truly impressed by it. There is so much attention to detail. The bike seat is even embroidered, and it comes with a cute little bell all with hello kitty on it. Even the wheels have hello kitty treads on them. The company nirve also sends touch out paints just in case.
Riding it, you really need a flat surface because it is a cruiser. But that's why it's awesome. The handle bars are aligned almost like a chopper so it's easy to ride one handed and just relax while riding. It's also nice in that there are hand and foot brakes. The ride itself is so smooth. It's funny but you do "turn heads" with this bike if that's the kind of thing your into.
All in all, I love this bike. It's fun, cute (I mean "super cute") and has great quality. Just keep in mind that it is way larger than the little photo on amazon allows (for example, on the frame where the hello kitty is painted I can't clasp my one hand around it and touch my fingers together) -- Super Cute!
